**** CMDS Academic Libraries Discussion Group ****
Topic.... "Academic Collection Development:
From Just-in-Case to
Just-in-Time to
Just-for-You to
Just-Pay-the Bill"
Ken Frazier, Director, University of Wisconsin-Madison General Libraries,
will join us. He will speak briefly to his view that something is going awry
in academic collection development and then to join our discussion of his
ideas. His ideas will challenge most us and likely rankle some of us.
Ken developed some aspects of his concerns at the recent Charleston
Conference. This discussion group is an opportunity for
CD librarians to engage Ken (as an ally or as a foil) and their fellow CD
librarians in a lively discussion of some core CD assumptions in 2002.
Time will also be reserved at the end of the meeting for general Q&A for
whatever questions on any CD topic you wish to ask the group.
When.... 2 to 4 pm, Saturday January 19th, 2002
Where... Morial Convention Center, Room 279
Please join us.
