Collections colleagues,
An issue that has been bubbling away lately has been the inclusion of
"passport cards" in monographs that allow the user to go to a dedicated
website for a book. This is most typical in textbook type material but has
recently leaked into other areas.
How is your library handling access to these websites?
Are you just taping the card in to the circulating volume and letting the
user access the site?
Are you not including the information at all?
Are you including it in the catalogue record?
What if the password gets changed and you've not the ability to change it back?
What about maintenance of access to these sites? How are you handling this?
I'm looking for preliminary thoughts to give us some guidance. We've been
inconsistent with our own practices and I was just wondering what others
were up to. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Todd
