Nineteen responses to my inquiry regarding the cancellation of Chemical
Abstracts in lieu of electronic access were sent directly to me.

Of those nineteen, all from academic institutions, all but one had
cancelled
the print version in order to provide access to the electronic format.
Most did so for fiscal reasons, but many were pleased with the savings
in
terms of shelf space and processing as well.
The vast majority were pleased with this change and most did not
experience
difficulty in garnering faculty support .

I've reprinted the original question below.

"I would like to get some idea of how widespread the cancellation of the
print version of Chemical Abstracts is, given availability to the
electronic
version through the likes of STN and SciFinder etc.

Have you cancelled the print? Has resistance from faculty stopped you?
What
factors entered into your decision?

You can reply to me if you like, and I'll summarize for the list."
