Greetings,
I'm on a committee that is examining document delivery of library materials
to faculty and students. This service would be offered to members of the
Penn State community, regardless of location... so we are discussing not
only delivery to offices at University Park, but also at any of the 25 Penn
State campuses as well as people enrolled in Penn State's World Campus. We
are also not limiting this to format... so we are including the possibility
of delivering film, monographs, maps, etc. as well as journal articles. We
do have some specific questions, if you are involved with any of these
types of activities. These include:
1. What formats are you providing through your service?
2. What is your turn-around time?
3. How are you delivering the information?
4. How are you tracking the material? (That is, how are you ensuring that
the information gets to the correct person and isn't "lost in the mail"?)
5. Are you charging a fee for this service? If so, what is your fee
structure? How do you handle the charges?
6. What is your volume of requests?
7. Are you delivering to multiple campuses? Or are all of your deliveries
on one campus?
8. How are you receiving the requests? (E-mail, online form, etc.?)
9. Are there any other important factors that I might have missed?
If you can answer any or all of the above questions I would greatly
appreciate hearing from you. I will summarize for the list.
Thank you,
Nancy J. Butkovich
