        Thank you to all who responded to my queries about a publication
called "The Book Reader." The professor was most grateful for the quick
work, the many other suggestions, and the monetary savings. Perhaps the
most telling was... when the prof called them back to
refuse to place an ad, they hung up on him. "On my nickel!" he wrote
indignantly. 

        And speaking of such things, I got the International Business
Directory spiel again last Friday. That's the one where they call to
"verify your listing" and say they'll send out the new directories as
soon as they're ready, without ever mentioning the nice little fact of
the invoice that's going to arrive with them...
