Tenure-Track Faculty Position & Department Co-Chair

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides leadership for and manages a redefined division
encompassing Collection Acquisition Management, Cataloging Services, Document
Delivery Services, Periodicals/Microforms, Circulation Services, Reserve Book
Room, Stack Maintenance, and Special Collections/Archives. Ongoing initiatives
in the division include weeding and off-site storage projects, digital
library initiatives such as e-Books, electronic reserves, and digitizing
projects. Oversees a collections budget of over $2.8 million. Establishes
strategic directions, goals and priorities, and develops work assignments
in collaboration with faculty, coordinators and unit heads in the Division.
Coordinates services and procedures with other divisions and represents the
division on Library Management Team. Participates in library-wide planning
and policy-making and serves as Department Co-Chair in matters relating to
library faculty.
QUALIFICATIONS: MLS from ALA accredited program; a minimum of 5 years of
appropriate experience with progressively responsible administrative
responsibilities, including management of at least one of above named areas;
budget planning and management experience, broad and demonstrable knowledge
of collection management and access, including technical services.
Demonstrated leadership ability; strong analytical and problem solving
skills; excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
with a diverse faculty, staff and students. Ability to work within and
foster a collaborative, collegial environment. Strong public service
orientation.
Reports to the University Librarian. Tenure-track appointment at the
Associate or full Librarian level; rank and salary commensurate with
qualifications and experience. As faculty members, librarians are expected
to meet general faculty requirements for tenure and promotion.
