innovative/collaborative individual for the position of:
Instruction Librarian, 12-month faculty appointment, working 40 flexible
hours per week.
Duties: Responsible for coordinating the library's instruction and
information literacy programs. This position also designs and teaches
library instruction sessions, which include instruction on library print and
electronic resources, including the Internet. The instruction librarian
initiates new instruction programs as needed, coordinates the library
publication program, creates instructional materials and bibliographies,
staffs the reference desk, participates in collection development, and
serves on faculty committees.
Qualifications: Master's degree in library science from an ALA accredited
institution required. One year of library, teaching, or training experience
required. College level course work in education or instructional design
preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and HTML preferred. Excellent
oral and written communication skills. Ability to work collegially as a
team member in a changing environment. Commitment to public service and the
philosophy of a community college. Ability to be flexible and innovative,
including the ability to work flexible shifts to accommodate the needs of
the library.
