SOCIAL SCIENCES BIBLIOGRAPHER
 Librarian II or III

The University of Massachusetts Amherst Library seeks candidates for the
position of Social Sciences Bibliographer.  Under general supervision of the
Coordinator of Collection Development, assist in the development of the
Library's collections and resources by selecting books and other materials
for acquisition for designated subject areas of the social sciences and area
studies; perform subject-related liaison activities with faculty; and
provide general and subject-related reference service, in the Collection 
Development Department of the University Library.

QUALIFICATIONS

ˇ Master's degree in library science from an American Library
Association-accredited library and information studies program.

ˇ Working knowledge of at least one foreign language.

ˇ Educational background in the social sciences.  Graduate degree in subject
desirable.

ˇ Minimum of two years of experience in an academic or research library,
including some collection development responsibilities.

ˇ Experience with print and electronic information resources, preferably
with emphasis on the social sciences.

ˇ Strong service orientation and the ability to work productively with
colleagues and library users.

ˇ Knowledge of scholarly literature and publishing trends.
