Electronic Resources Librarian 

The University of New Hampshire invites applications for the position of
Electronic Resources Librarian which oversees electronic resources. This is
a full-time, tenure-track position that reports to the Head of Collection
Development. Specific responsibilities will include developing goals and
strategies for acquiring and managing electronic resources in collaboration
with the Head of Collection Development and the library faculty. Other
duties include negotiating licenses and contracts with online vendors;
monitoring trends in electronic publishing, licensing, and copyright;
working closely with Technical Services, Reference, and the Library Systems
Departments to implement access to electronic resources; and facilitating
communication about electronic resources with the library liaisons and the
university community. The person in this position will also serve as library
liaison to one or more academic departments for collection development
purposes and will serve on library and campus committees as appropriate. 


QUALIFICATIONS: 

Required: an ALA-accredited MLS: strong interpersonal,
communication, and analytical skills; ability to function in a
collaborative, service-oriented environment; and flexibility in adapting to
change. 

Preferred: A second advanced degree is highly preferred and is required for
tenure; knowledge of collection development methods; knowledge of the
publishing industry, particularly of trends in electronic publishing and
issues related to contracts and licenses; and knowledge of the technical
issues of providing access to electronic resources. Knowledge of HTML or
Java script a plus.

This is a twelve-month tenure-track position with appointment at the rank of
Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to meet
Library and University requirements for reappointment, promotion, and
tenure. The salary is $41,500.

The University Library has a collection of over 1.1 million volumes and
substantial serial, document, microform, audiovisual, and special
collections. The current allocation for library materials is $4.1 million.
The Library uses the INNOPAC integrated library system. The University
Library includes the newly renovated and expanded Dimond Library, four
branch libraries, a storage facility, and a staff of 80, including 21library
faculty. It serves a full-time teaching faculty of 660 and a student body of
about 13,000 undergraduate and graduate students.

UNH is located near the New Hampshire seacoast and is about a 90-minute
drive from Boston to the south and the White Mountains to the north. It is a
Land Grant, Sea Grant, and Space Grant institution. UNH faculty are
represented by the AAUP for collective bargaining.
