POSITION: Information Specialist: Web Development, Library Systems

The Information Specialists work in a team environment to coordinate
library and instruction services. Under the direction of the senior
management team, Information Specialists support student and faculty
research and instruction needs. Information Specialists (1) provide expert
instruction in information literacy, (2) apply professional standards of
collection development to maintain and improve the university's print and
electronic research resources, (3) offer project-specific research
consultation and general reference service and, (4) supervise support staff
and/or student workers.
Required qualifications include: a Master's degree in Library and
Information Science from an ALA accredited school, specialized training in
or experience with bibliographic instruction or information literacy in an
academic library, specialized training in or experience with collection
development practices in an academic library, a thorough understanding of
information technology, networked information resources, library automated
systems and web development.
Preferred qualifications include (some combination of the following): a
second Master's degree or collection development experience in Arts and
Humanities, Social Sciences or Life/Physical Sciences; knowledge of
information architecture or information organization; experience or
interest in the application of metadata to informational resources;
experience with library systems or cataloging; knowledge of web design and
implementation in an academic library; instructional experience; leadership
or supervisory experience with a workgroup or team.
Compensation: $40,000-45,000 plus excellent benefits. These are
twelve-month positions requiring some evening and weekend hours.
