CDL Colleagues:

New issue of Reference Reviews Europe available!

The fifth edition of Reference Reviews Europe (RRE) offers assessments in
English of European reference works. It is an indispensable resource for
selectors and others interested in reference materials in a broad sense.
An evaluation in the May 1997 issue of CHOICE noted that the reviews in
RRE "are exceptional in the information about scope, organization, and
quality of the reference works that they provide."

This latest issue of RRE contains English-language abstracts of reviews
of 235 titles from the German review journal Informationen fuer
Bibliotheken, a publication of the German Library Institute (DBI). The
reviewed titles range from general encyclopedias, dictionaries, and
directories, through the arts, humanities and social sciences, to
geography and the sciences, and include electronic media. The translated
abstracts have been prepared by many of your colleagues from the ACRL
Western European Studies Section (WESS). You will also find in this
issue five original reviews of 13 reference books in Romance languages
by US Western European subject specialists. All reviews contain complete
bibliographic and ordering information.

RRE is available both in print, as Reference Reviews Annual (RREA), and
online (RREO). The electronic version can be accessed at
<https://www.rre.casalini.it/default.htm>. Currently there is no charge
to use RREO; however, in the near future unrestricted access to the
electronic version may be available only by subscribing to RREA.

A subscription to Reference Reviews Europe Annual costs $30.
Subscription information and an order form are included on the
Casalini Web site at <https://rre.casalini.it/secure/order.htm>. Back
issues are still available.

Sample issues of RREA will be available at the Casalini Libri booth during
the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Washington, DC.

Sincerely, the Editors
