CAREER REFERENCE LIBRARIAN / MASSBEDROCK TRAINER AND COLLECTIONS
COORDINATOR - 2 year term position
The University of Massachusetts Amherst Library seeks candidates for a split
position of Career Reference Librarian / MassBedrock Trainer and Collections
Coordinator. For 50% of time, reporting to the Head of Reference Services,
provide library users with general reference services and specialized
reference service in career opportunities and career development; and select
related materials for library acquisition. In other 50% of time, reporting
to the Project Manager for Business and Economic Development Statewide
Specialized Reference Services, coordinate content development and review of
web resources for the digital library, MassBedrock; and coordinate, develop
and present continuing education programs in library services for business
and economic development.
QUALIFICATIONS
ˇ Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library
Association-accredited library and information studies program.
ˇ Minimum of one year of experience in an academic, research, or
specialized library, including experience developing curriculum and
conducting effective continuing education programs.
ˇ Broad educational background in a variety of academic disciplines.
ˇ Good knowledge of print and online resources for business, career
research, and associated disciplines.
ˇ Good interviewing skills and a good level of efficiency in the use of
reference sources.
ˇ Strong service orientation.
ˇ High level of written and oral communication skills and the ability to
communicate clearly in presentations
ˇ Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively and
work productively, cooperatively and collaboratively with a variety of
individuals and groups in a changing environment.
ˇ Proficiency with HTML and web development.
ˇ Desirable qualifications: cataloging experience using AACR2, MARC, OCLC,
and Dublin Core; BA or advanced degree in Business or Economics, with
library experience specializing in services to business information users;
and knowledge of Dreamweaver, Adobe PhotoShop, and Filemaker Pro, or similar
applications.
