Our Collection Development Team is embarking on a thorough review of our
existing budget structure and current allocations of money to specific
subject areas. We are seeking input as to what approaches other
institutions employ to arrive at the distribution of funds (historical
budget, formula, combination, etc.), what percentages of the materials
budget are allotted to broad subject areas (humanities, fine arts,
sciences, etc.), and what specific elements are considered in determining
allocations (number of faculty, grad and undergrad students, grant money,
courses, etc.).

Any and all input will be appreciated. Responses will be summarized for the
list, if desired.

With thanks in advance.
