An interesting article examining "...changes in 
the library's operational costs associated with
[e-subscriptions]."  Conclusion: "Preliminary
cost comparisons...indicate that the electronic
collection is substantially more expensive to 
maintain."  Author is dean of libraries @ Drexel.

A colleague at UNC-Asheville notes that
as the costs to the library rise for these materials, the patron's 
costs (in labor, time, photocopying, traveling, etc.) usually 
fall with the implementation of e-resources.
