Reports to Miller Nichols Library Head of Reference Services for
reference service and instruction, and to Libraries Assistant Director
for Collection Development for collection development and faculty
liaison for: communication studies, English, philosophy, theater.
Participates on team of professionals developing public services to
support the Libraries' service mission. Some evenings, weekends
required. Professional development encouraged, required for promotion
in ranked, non-tenure track position. Extensive library automation,
including multi-media instruction laboratory, and stunning, newly
remodeled Information Commons, a collaborative, interdisciplinary,
learner-centered, lap-top ready lounge and study space provided by the
Miller Nichols Trust.
Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS; degree in humanities related to
liaison assignments; exceptional interpersonal, communication skills;
energy, creativity, flexibility, commitment to public service; ability
to work positively, productively with diverse constituencies in
environment of rapid change; understanding of scholarly research
environment; evidence of professional initiative, mature judgement;
relevant information technology experience; potential to meet promotion
requirements in non-tenure track appointment.
Preferred: Graduate degree in humanities, current, relevant academic
library reference, instruction, collection development, government
documents experience; familiarity with major European language.
Salary: $30,000 minimum. Benefits include health/dental plans; 75%
