Two notices of possible interest: 1. I know that colldev-l should but rarely be used as an exchange list, but I wanted to report back just how useful it has been for the serial backsets we are removing from our branch library in Northern Virginia. Having previously placed 85 of the 162 titles with various international universities, I was able to identify 7 takers for an additional 23 via colldev-l. Yes, a fair bit of work. But cost-effective overall in the rare instance someone has that much to give (the real serials backset lists are much more geared for bits and pieces). 2. Anyone dependent on Dialog's CIP (classroom instruction program) should be aware that they are suspending this for each library at the end of the library's current contract. We got caught scrambling for a chem abstracts alternative on very short notice. IMHO after decades of successful partnership with libraries, Dialog could have been more proactive about spreading the word on this.
