Associate Director of the Arnold Bernhard Library

Quinnipiac University seeks an energetic, team-oriented individual to fill
the newly created position of Associate Director of the Arnold Bernhard
Library. The Associate Director will participate in the overall management
of the Library, including planning and decision-making and will serve as
principal administrative officer of the Library in the absence of the
Director. It is expected that the incumbent will have a close working
relationship with the professional staff of the Quinnipiac School of Law
Library.

Central to the duties of this position are the coordination and further
development of Access Services. The Associate Director will have
supervisory responsibility of the circulation/reserve and periodicals public
service units.

Management responsibilities include promoting faculty/staff development and
training; implementation of policies related to personnel, budget and
statistical reports; and researching and analyzing library issues.

The new Arnold Bernhard Library will be completed in August 2000. This
spectacular facility will seat more than 600, facilitate the growing
presence of notebook computers with power and data at nearly every seat, and
integrate personnel from the instructional technology and information
services divisions with library staff. Collectively, these divisions report
to the Vice President/Chief Information and Technology Officer of the
College.

The Bernhard Library has a collection of 165,000 volume and volume
equivalents, over 2000 active serials titles, a well-developed, shared (with
the School of Law Library) Innovative Interfaces system, and a dynamic web
presence highlighted by an arsenal of web-based resources and a new,
college-wide, web design. The Library receives top priority for new
technologies and their support. In addition to the new facility, the
library's materials budget has doubled in five years with annual increases
averaging 20%.

This is an administrative appointment with a salary commensurate with rank
and experience. Quinnipiac College offers an excellent benefits package and
a superior environment in which to work.

library; effective oral and written communication skills; knowledge of
