We have followed the development of netLibrary with great interest, and
planned to purchase their materials this year. However the
requirement that we initially purchase 500 books has stopped us dead in
our tracks. The alternatives of purchasing through a consortium or
purchasing a package are not acceptable options either. I have discussed
this with their sales staff and know their reasons for setting
this requirement, but that doesn't help us much. Is this minimum purchase
requirement a problem for any other libraries? Replies to the list are
preferred over replies to me alone, but either way I would like to hear
from you.
