[From this month's moderator:] I have received several 'off-list'
responses/reactions to the question about CD mailing lists. Let this
one from an admired colleague suffice to summarize the sentiments:
"Hey John, if there ever is such a list and you help vendors get their hands
on it, you better look out for me in dark alleys. :-)"
The original posting read:
> A faculty member who is about to launch a new journal has asked if I know
> of any lists of collection development librarians she might use to
> advertise and solicit subscriptions. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
> for any information.
From the responses, it appears most CD folk feel their mailbox (paper and email)
are
sufficiently clogged now. A better route for gaining subscribers to a new
pub is to target departmental faculty in that discipline. Those who
feel it is a worthy addition to the library will forward to the CDO for
consideration.
I'll end the thread here unless there is vigorous objection. I am moving into
the Federal listserv moderator protection program :-).
