_Library Collections, Acquisitions, and Technical Services_ is pleased to
announce the appointment of Karen Calhoun as Assistant Editor beginning
January 1, 2000. Karen is head of the cataloging department in Central
Technical Services at the Cornell University Library. At Cornell, she's
become involved in the library-wide effort to integrate traditional and
digital resources. Previously Karen worked for OCLC, where she was
involved in authority control initiatives, cooperative cataloging, and OCLC
database quality. Karen chairs the PCC Standing Committee on Automation
and the ALCTS CCS Policy and Research Committee. Her degrees are an M.S.
in library and information science from Drexel University and an M.B.A.
from Franklin University. For _LCATS_, Karen will focus her attention on
papers and coverage of the cataloging arena.
Karen succeeds Marcia Pankake who leaves the board at the end of 1999.
Marcia joined _LCATS_ as an editorial board member with volume 7 (1983).
With volume 13 (1989), Marcia became Assistant Editor. During her many
years of service to _LCATS_, Marcia focused her energy on the review
section, on articles on collection development and management, and on
encouraging the publication of empirical research and new, young writers.
_LCATS_ would not be the journal it is today without Marcia's many
contributions.
