Dear Colleagues,
My small rural public library is about to start weeding its fiction. Any
tips, hints, and/or guidelines would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance!

A good guide to weeding is _THE CREW METHOD: Expanded
Guidelines for Collection Evaluation and Weeding for Small and
Medium-Sized Public Libraries_, revised and updated by Belinda
Boon, Library Development Staff, Texas State Library (1995).
The previous edition was published by ALA as Evaluation and
Weeding; the CREW Method from the original TSL publication
The CREW Manual: A Unified System of Weeding ... by Joseph Segal.

One of the best weeding manuals I have found that gives good practical
guidelines is the Crew Method, a manual put out by the Texas State Library,
Library Development Division, P.O. Box 12927, Austin TX 78711-2927 Phone
(512) 463-5465. It goes through all of the Dewey Classes, but also gives
guidelines for fiction weeding. It costs about $12.00.
