Summary of Job Responsibilities
The University Libraries is searching for an energetic, forward-looking
social science librarian to work in an atmosphere which is research and
service oriented. The successful applicant will participate in collection
development and management in the social sciences; conduct bibliographic
instruction at undergraduate and graduate levels; provide reference and
research services to graduates and undergraduates in the social sciences;
hold regular assignments at Social Sciences and Humanities reference desk,
including one evening/and occasional weekend assignments. Reports to Head
of the Social Sciences and Humanities Department.
Qualifications
Required: An earned master's degree from an ALA-accredited program or
equivalent. Additional master's degree or equivalent in a social science
discipline. Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff,
students, and general public.
Preferred: Professional experience in an academic library, including
teaching and library instruction; general competence in using computerized
information resources and networks.
Salary and Appointment
Appointment rank will be based on relevant experience and educational
background. The minimum salary for this position is $30,000. The University
