Seeks a reference librarian with a strong commitment to user
services
and enthusiasm for teaching to develop innovative library
services for a
premier political science department.  An excellent
opportunity to join a
humanities/social sciences reference team (8 librarians 2
paraprofessionals) to deliver services that support
instruction, research,
and writing for faculty and students.  The successful
candidate will be a
member of a group facilitating the integration of
statistical and
geographical data services into library programs.

  Responsibilities:

- Provides general and specialized reference services,
including
     rotating evening and week-end hours.
-Works closely with students teaching them to navigate
technology,
      identify appropriate resources, and focus research
topics.
-Develops and manages the library's collection in Political
Science.
-Identifies, facilitates access to, and instructs students
and
     faculty on the use of social science data.
-Serves as a liaison to faculty and students in the
department of
     Political Science.
-Provides course-integrated bibliographic instruction for
     Political Science.
-Develops instructional materials and web pages.

                       Qualifications
   --Required
-MLS from an ALA accredited program
-Undergraduate/graduate work in political science
-Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and
students
     about the library's collections in all formats and
their capacity to
     support University instruction and teaching
-Knowledge of electronic information products
-Public service experience in an academic library
-Strong presentation, organization, and collaboration skills

-Knowledge of or experience working with social
     science/geographic data

  --Preferred
-Graduate degree in political science
-Strong computer skills in a windows environment
-Experience in teaching
