Harvard  Business School, Baker Library

Director of Resource and Database Management

Administers the operations of the Resource and Database Management
Department, including collection development, acquisitions, serials
management, cataloging, database maintenance, binding, and physical
processing.  Coordinate administration of the library's integrated system
(Voyager/Endeavor Systems), particularly for the acquisitions and
cataloging modules.  Work w/ Harvard University Office for Information
Systems regarding HOLLIS , and with NELINET and OCLC as required. Oversee
the hiring, training, evaluation and ongoing development of 9.86 FTEs.
Directly supervise 6 FTEs.  Direct RDM's participation in university-wide
virtual library initiatives..  Serve as a member of the Baker Library
Management team, and on other library, HBS and Harvard committees as
appropriate.

Requirements:  Significant experience in managing technical services
operations in a corporate or research library; superior interpersonal
skills; demonstrated ability to provide leadership, set priorities, and
resolve competing demands in a fast-paced environment of rapid change;
excellent planning, analytical, and communication skills; demonstrated
ability to work cooperatively with & coordinate the efforts of colleagues
from across departments to achieve stated goals; strong customer service
orientation; demonstrated creativity, initiative, and innovation;  high
degree of computer literacy;  experience in developing virtual library
projects, metadata initiatives, web page design and developing thesauri and
classification systems, strongly preferred.

Salary:  $50,300. minimum.
