I am new to this list and didn't have much luck searching the list
archives. I am the Catalog Librarian at Adirondack Community College in
upstate New York. I would like to know if anyone can direct me toward a
"core collection" of foreign languange materials for a community college.
We currently have about 3600 students/semester. The languages taught here
are Spanish, French, and German and they are mainly conversational type
courses with emphasis on grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. At this
time, only the Spanish department offers literature courses, but I suppose
that could change in the future. I checked Books for College Libraries,
but that seems to include many items that are too advanced for a two year
college setting. If anyone could offer helpful some suggestions, it would
be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for you help. You may
respond to me directly or the list. I will summarize if there is any
interest in doing so. Thank you again!
