Humanities/Social Sciences Librarian, General Library, University of
California, Davis. Salary: Assistant Librarian I to Associate
Librarian III ($32,292 - $43,332). Appointment rank and salary
based on qualifications and experience. Open immediately.
Responsibilites:
Shares with seven colleagues responsibility for collection development
in Humanities/Social Sciences; primary responsibility for History
and/or Art and Art History, and for other subjects depending on
qualifications and departmental needs. Participates in systemwide
planning for UC collections, including those of the California Digital
Library. Shares also in providing reference service in
Humanities/Social Sciences. Responsible for exploring new information
technologies and for promoting their use by faculty and students;
provides bibliographic instruction in areas of collection development
responsibility. Reports to the Head, Humanities/Social Sciences
Department.
Qualificationss: Graduate degree in librarianship from
ALA-accredited library school or equivalent. Graduate degree in
History or Art History, or other historically related discipline
strongly preferred; knowledge of one or more Western European
languages desirable. Excellent understanding of the
information needs of Humanities/Social Sciences scholarship and of
the applications of developing technologies. Superior oral and
written communication skills; excellent analytical and
organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to
work effectively with colleagues and library users in a rapidly
changing, complex and multicultural environment. Demonstrated
initiative and flexibility.
