Collection Management Services Librarian - Collection Development
(Faculty position, non-tenure track)

The University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont is a comprehensive
university and land grant institution enrolling approximately 10,000
students in undergraduate, masters and doctoral-level degree programs.  The
University Libraries' three libraries and Research Annex house 1.2 million
volumes, and have a materials budget exceeding $3.7 million annually.
Within the Collection Management Services Division of Bailey/Howe Library,
this librarian:
· establishes collection development protocols for firm order materials;
· participates in the evaluation and selection of electronic resources, and
the monitoring of use and accessibility;
· manages shelf ready and approval plans;
· evaluates gift materials for collection development;
· oversees weeding and collection maintenance efforts;
· participates in the development of a collection management policy for the
Library Research Annex;
· participates in updating the library's collection development plan;
· monitors and gathers data on collections for planning and reporting
purposes;
· coordinates activities of the Collection Development Team, which includes
two FTE staff positions; evaluates work of team members.

Additionally, the person will provide instruction to students in the
library's active instructional program, provide faculty liaison for
collection issues, and serve as a member of library and university
committees.  The Collection Development Librarian works in partnership with
the Acquisitions and Preservation Librarian, and reports to the Head of
Collection Management Services.

Required:  ALA-accredited MLS or international equivalent. Two to three
years of professional experience, with a demonstrated knowledge of
technical services in the areas of collection development, acquisitions,
serials or cataloging.  Understanding of issues related to the selection of
electronic resources.  Facility with statistical and database management
systems for collections analysis.  Ability to work in a collaborative, team
environment.

Highly desirable: Supervisory experience, interest in and experience with
classroom teaching, familiarity with OCLC, MARC, Endeavor's Voyager system
and /or NOTIS.

Appointment will be at the faculty rank of Assistant Library Professor,
non-tenure track.  Salary:  $31,000 minimum, and will be set according to
qualifications and experience.  This is not an entry-level position.
Liberal benefits package includes TIAA/CREF or alternate plan, 22 days
