POSITION TITLE: Associate University Librarian for Collection
Development
Syracuse University Library invites applications for the position of
Associate University Librarian for Collection Development.
Summary
This senior position, reporting to the University Librarian, includes
responsibility for a $3.5m collections budget and related activities,
and shared responsibility for the administration of the Library. The
incumbent will lead, supervise in their selection activities, and
participate in evaluating up to 30 selectors throughout the Library.
Assertive advance of digital initiatives will be as important as
maintenance of print and other materials acquisitions. The continued
development of effective consortial relationships will be essential.
The incumbent will have an opportunity to restructure the collections
organization to increase effectiveness and achieve these goals.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a graduate degree in
librarianship/information studies (ALA-accredited) or equivalent
combination of education or experience. Five years of progressively
increasing responsibility in a large academic or research library
environment. Experience managing collections or electronic resources
in a research or academic library for several years. Also required is
ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries and to
lead effective teams to joint accomplishment; effective interpersonal,
oral, and written communication skills and commitment to diversity in
the workplace.

Salary: commensurate with education and experience. Minimum: $73,000.
