NC State is currently building a database of publications by faculty, staff,
and students. We populate the database by downloading NC State authors from
Web of Science, and we supplement these citations with those found in various
campus bulletins and newsletters. We also send out a form letter to each
author informing her/him that a citation is now in the database. This often
stimulates submissions of citations not in the database. We recently added
patents with links to the full text on the IBM Intellectual Properties site.
The url for the NCSU Authors Database is http://www.lib.ncsu.edu/NCSUPubs/.
Presently this site offers only static pages, but we plan to put up a
searchable version that will enable users to do keyword searches across
multiple fields. I would be interested in hearing about similar efforts on
other campuses.
