       b. Approval of Minutes of 1998 Annual Meeting
       c. Appointment of Nominating Committee. Secretary/Chair-Elect
       d. Calculating Membership. Brief review of criteria and process.
Full report at 1999 Annual Meeting
 e. Discussion of reports submitted by ARL, CRL, and LC in response to reports
prior to the meeting

1. Report on the Materials Budget Survey. Bob Sewell.

2. Integrated Library Systems: Selection and Implementation.
The Integrated Library System has promise for giving us more information to
help us in building and managing our collections. How are CDOs and collection
development staff using their systems to gain better information about
collections, budgets, and related issues? Bill Schenck.

3. Digitization Projects.
An ever increasing number of libraries are digitizing portions of their
collections. What selection criteria are used in determining whether a
collection is a good candidate for digital reformat? Why are collections
digitized? Preservation? Improved access? Faculty research? Instruction? Some
combination of these and other purposes? How is the success/value of
digitization measured when the reformatting has been completed? Heike Kordish.

4. Contract Terms with ěReprint Publishers.
What terms and conditions do libraries request in contract agreements signed
with reprint, microform, or CD publishers who want to reissue older print
collections? Can we/should we request copies of uncompressed TIFF images as
permanent archival copy? Should we insist on free access to the online product
in lieu of or in addition to royalties? Heike Kordish.

5. Evaluating CRL Membership Benefits.
Prior to renewing membership in CRL, what kinds of evaluative studies do
institutions undertake to confirm importance of continued membership? What
qualitative and quantitative measures have proven most successful in
justifying costs and documenting benefits? What arrangements have proven
most persuasive?
Ross Atkinson.

6. Justice Department Report on Publisher Pricing and Mergers. Mary Case and
Mark McCabe.

7. Collection Policy Statements for Rare Books/Special Collections.
Should there be a collection policy statement for rare book/special
collections? On the one hand, a policy can be a restraint against building a
great collection; on the other hand, a policy does provide some guidance in
what can be a very expensive area. Bill Schenck.

8. Electronic Resources in the Humanities.

The ever increasing availability of e-resources in the humanities appears
to be greater than the demand. Are publishers ahead of consumersí needs, or are
e-text in the humanities ahead of their time? Do training programs and/or
e-text centers sufficiently increase demand for and use of these resources to
justify greater investment in this area at this time? Lou Pitschmann.
