Collection Development Librarian

Pennsylvania College of Technology is currently seeking a Collection
Development Librarian to develop and manage the growing library
collections, to coordinate the work of selectors, to make recommendations
for the allocation of resources and to monitor the materials budget. The
Librarian will also oversee systems/processes associated with the
acquisition of materials and help build new programs in preservation,
archives, and special collections. The successful candidate will join a
team of librarians in supporting reference and library instruction in a
changing and growing library. The library serves 5300 students enrolled in
65 associate and 22 baccalaureate degree programs.

Qualifications include a Master's Degree in Library or Information Science
From an ALA accredited institution; two years of collections or related
experience in a library, preferably in an academic setting; broad range of
librarianship abilities; knowledge of, or aptitude for, automation of
library functions; aptitude for providing library instruction; functional
ability with microcomputers; flexibility in assuming duties and work
schedule; and effective interpersonal, organizational, and communication
skills.  Graduate level coursework in a field other than Library Science,
teaching experience, preferably in an academic setting, and five years of
collections or related experience in a library are desired.

Position is available January 5, 1999.  Salary will be commensurate with
