Hello, academic institutions (particularly law schools):

Conspectus collection depth indicators put numbers to "collection
strength", "collection intensity" and "collection goal" of library
collections, on a scale of 0-5, with zero being "The library does not
collect" and 5 being "comprehensive collection".

As far as I know (please correct me if I am wrong), there are no
supplemental RLG guidelines for law schools specifically, but
some law schools' policies use the RLG guidelines from the 1988 RLG
Collection Development manual and consider a ranking of "3" as being
comparable to J.D.-level instruction. The American Association of Law
School's (AALL) "Guide for Writing Collection Development Policies (1996)
is based on the 1988 RLG guidelines.

My question to you is: are there any collection development policies out
there which use the newer "RLG Conspectus Collection Depth Indicator
Definitions 1997?" It seems to me that typical JD-level law school
instruction would be rank "4" under the new guidelines, rather than the
traditional "3".

Thank you. If I receive any replies to me directly, I will summarize for
both the colldv-l list and law-lib.
