We're having a bit of a debate here about our college catalog collection.
We abandoned print catalogs some years ago in favor of microfiche, and have
recently decided to go with the Web version of College Source. We have some
quibbles among ourselves about archiving, the utility of the Acrobat version
for quick access, etc.

However, the larger question that seems to be emerging is this:
Is there enough of a critical mass of catalog information on the Web that it
is no longer necessary or helpful to maintain a collection locally?

Also, is it now so easy for registrar's offices to fax course descriptions
from past catalogs among themselves that the archival function of these
services is also of questionable value?
