In Washinton, DC the CODES Collection Development Dual Assignments
Discussion Group will continue exploring shifting organizational
structures within collection development. A lively and interesting
discussion on team-based collection development took place in New Orleans.
Some people described the collection development management models that
are followed in their libraries. Others expressed concerns and raised a
variety of questions about team composition, team process, team
responsibility, team leadership, team evaluation, and budget management.
Many agreed that collection development team effectiveness greatly depends
on how much power the team has to make important decisions and ensure
their implementation. Please share in the continuation of this very
nteresting discussion.
