Length of Employment: 175 day annual faculty contract
Minimum Selection Criteria:
* Masters degree in Library Science.
* Ability to plan, develop, and initiate a collection
development/management system, including evaluation, acquisition, and
weeding of print, microforms, electronic resources in cooperation with
other library staff and instructional departments.
* Experience as a reference librarian in an academic setting. Community
College experience preferred.
* Experience in using Dynix or other online catalog and circulation
system; knowledge of Library of Congress classification system; OCLC
experience desirable.
* Expertise in use, instruction, and evaluation of library resources,
including print, multi-media, electronic databases, and the Internet;
knowledge of IBM-clone PCs and peripherals helpful.
* Able to participate in a variety of library responsibilities such as
planning and budget; serve as a library liaison to instructional
departments and participate in the Library Advisory Committee.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to work cooperatively with other library staff in a team-managed
setting.
* Ability to provide reference services to a broad range of students,
staff, and community patrons.
* Ability to teach library skills in a variety of settings; knowledge of
distance learning helpful.
* Special knowledge of business and technical/professional/technology
sources desirable.
* Familiarity with web page construction and HTML desirable.
Essential Functions:
Plan, develop, and initiate with other library staff a plan for collection
development and management, including evaluation and procedures for
acquisition and weeding. Coordinate library services and functions
related to the collection and provide support to instructional programs,
including distance learning offerings. Provide general reference
services to a broad range of students, staff, and community patrons,
participate in bibliographic instruction, and work at the circulation desk as
needed. Participate directly in such library responsibilities as weeding
and collection development, department meetings and planning, serve as
a library liaison to one or more instructional departments, and be an
active member of the Library Advisory Committee.
Starting Date: September 14, 1998
Salary Range: $33,389 or $36,902 / 1998-1999 Faculty Salary Schedule
plus fringe benefit package. Initial placement based on background and
experience.

To be considered a candidate for a professional position, the college
requires a completed Clackamas Community College application form,
copies of transcripts, a placement file (if available) and three letters of
reference. Applicants should also submit a written summary of their
training and/or experience in collection development and management.
Finalists will be asked to prepare a typed paper of less than 10 pages
outlining plans, procedures, and processes to implement a collection
development and management system in a team-managed environment.
