Kenyon College invites applications for the position of
Acquisitions/Serials Librarian.  The position reports to the
Director of Libraries, coordinates activities with the Head
of Technical Services, supervises 2 1/2 FTE plus student
assistants, and works closely with the Reference staff who also
serve as collection development liaisons with the faculty
departments.  Duties include collection development
responsibilities for modern foreign languages, philosophy, and
religion as well as bibliographic instruction in these
disciplines.  Occasional weekend reference work expected.
Responsibilities include oversight of the III automated
acquisitions system and the serials database.  Within these
categories are included fund accounting, vendor selection,
maintenance and cataloging of standing orders and serials.
Monographic acquisitions in 1996/97 were 7457.  Serials in hard
copy number over 1100 with an additional 1300 available through
online subscriptions.

Kenyon College is a highly selective, residential,  liberal arts
college in Gambier, Ohio [see www.kenyon.edu].
Kenyon's libraries house over 300,000 volumes plus a substantial
collection of non-print materials and government documents.
Kenyon shares an online library system with the College of
Wooster, Denison University and Ohio Wesleyan University.
Direct patron borrowing is available among all four campuses
with materials delivered by courier.  The consortium is also a
member of OhioLINK, the statewide academic library system.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited MLS or Master's degree
in modern languages, philosophy or religion. Preferred:  relevant
pre- or post-graduate experience with acquisitions, serials, or
automated library systems; supervisory and management skills;
familiarity with foreign and domestic book trade; reading
knowledge of one modern foreign language.

Salary/Benefits: salary commensurate with qualifications and
experience; TIAA/CREF; 22 days vacation.
