Coordinator for Digital Acquisitions.

The Harvard University libraries are acquiring a ever-increasing number of
digital resources. Unlike most traditional acquisitions, these purchases
frequently raise complex issues about resource evaluation, license
negotiation, consortial arrangements, usage evaluation, and cost
distribution. We seek a knowledgeable, self-directed, and energetic
librarian interested in the field of digital information to help coordinate
such acquisitions across the University. The Coordinator will be
responsible for communications within the University, with consortial
partners, and with vendors about digital resources, for negotiating and
monitoring vendor contracts, for maintaining records of purchases, and for
evaluating new and existing resources. The position requires excellent
communications skills, the ability to negotiate complex agreements, an
understanding of the evolving world of network-accessible electronic
resources, and considerable diplomacy. Salary from $40,000 depending on
experience.

The Harvard University Library is committed to its policy of equal
opportunity and affirmative action. Employment and advancement are based
upon merit and ability without regard to race, color, creed, sex, sexual
orientation, disability, national origin, or status as a disabled or
Vietnam-era veteran.
