At Connecticut College, where library and computing services are merged
into an Information Services unit, we are in the process of adding a line
to our traditional library liaison allocations (books and serials) for
software support for academic departments. Can anyone suggest a source for
data on average cost for software by
discipline, volume output, etc. to be used as rough guidelines for
developing allocations for such resources? These funds will be used for
software in support of teaching and will not become part of the library's
collections.

Many thanks for any suggestions you can give.
