TITLE:                  Humanities Bibliographer

SUPERVISOR:             Associate Director for Collection Management and
                        Technical Services


GENERAL FUNCTION:

Under the general direction of the Associate Director for Collection
Management and Technical Services to assist in all aspects of collection
development, with specific responsibilities for humanities, and to
participate in providing research consultation services.


EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in systematic development of the Library's collections in the
Humanities; Provides reference service at the Main Library Research
Consultation Desk; Acts as liaison to Computing Services, Technology
Coordinator for the
Humanities; Works on collection analysis projects; Receives, evaluates,
sorts and acknowledges gifts; Writes proposals for funding; Serves as
liaison to assigned academic departments; Performs other related duties as
assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:               Master's degree in Library Science; at least three years
experience in a university or research library with emphasis on collection
development/reference responsibilities; knowledge of at least one foreign
language; familiarity with Internet, world wide web and other electronic
resources; proficiency with desktop computer applications; demonstrated
ability in working effectively with faculty, students and staff; excellent
oral and written communication skills; ability to work as part of a team.
PREFERRED:              Second Master's in a humanities discipline.
