Sims Memorial Library at Southeastern Louisiana University is advertising
the following vacancy:
COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT/ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIAN
Responsibilities: Responsible for the evaluation and development of the
library's collection and for the supervision and coordination of the
acquisition of materials. Evaluates and enhances acquisition processes
utilizing appropriate technology. Recommends and monitors allocation of
materials. Establishes and maintains effective communication with academic
departments.
Qualifications: Required: ALA-accredited MLS; 5 years professional
experience in an academic or large public library, with significant
experience in both acquisitions and collection development; working
knowledge of standard selection and evaluation methods/tools and automated
acquisitions (pref. NOTIS); demonstrated awareness of new and emerging
trends and practices in collection development and acquisitions; supervisory
experience; strong organizational, interpersonal, oral and written
communication skills. Strongly preferred: Additional master's degree,
working knowledge of at least one romance language.
Salary/Benefits: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum:
$32,000. This is a 12-month tenure track position. Librarians have faculty
rank, status, privileges, and responsibilities. State or optional
retirement plans.
