The Western European Specialists Section (WESS) of the Association of
College & Research Libraries announces the inaugural meeting of its new
discussion group, WESS Special Topics, at the ALA Annual Conference in San
Francisco. This year's topic is "Greece and the Modern Greek Speaking
World." The group meets Sunday, June 29, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Please check
the official conference program for meeting place.
The program includes three guest speakers:
*Dr. Peter Haikalis, Librarian, San Francisco State University, will speak
about his experiences as a Fulbright scholar at the University of Crete
Library and as an instructor at a library school in Thessaloniki;
*Dr. Roland S. Moore, Research Anthropologist, Prevention Research Center,
Berkeley, and webmaster and listserv moderator for the Modern Greek Studies
Association, will discuss Greek Internet resources;
*and, Beau David Case, Librarian and Assistant Professor, Ohio State
University, will speak about reference and selection tools for modern Greek
studies.
Our final agenda items include the election of a Chair for the new
discussion group, and brainstorming for topics for the Annual Conference in
Washington, D.C.
