The various models for organizing collection development in libraries have
each their advantages and disadvantages. Please come discuss these with
members of the Committee and others working on a Guide to Organization for
Collection Development and Management. The topic will be briefly
introduced by the following speakers who will describe the two basic
models, decentralized and centralized, respectively:
Chris Filstrup, Associate Director for Collection Management, Organization,
and Preservation at North Carolina State University and
John Haar, Assistant Director for Collections at Vanderbilt University.
The discussion will follow a brief business meeting of the Committee.
