Leader, Education/Psychology Reference Services and Collection Manager for
Psychology

Position Description: The University of Minnesota Libraries seeks qualified
applicants for the position of Leader, Education/Psychology Reference
Services and Collection Manager for Psychology. Responsibilities include:
coordination of the Education/Psychology Reference Service in an emerging
team environment; providing traditional and electronic reference services,
including library instruction and the development of electronic library
resources, multimedia and web based user guides; selection of materials to
support instruction and research programs in psychology; management of
library materials acquisitions budget for psychology; analysis, development
and management of collections according to University needs; library liaison
to Department of Psychology and related programs; also working closely with
the Digital Media Center and School of Education and Department of
Psychology to incorporate innovative library instruction components into the
undergraduate and graduate curricula.

Required Qualifications:   MLS degree from an ALA-accredited institution;
advanced  degree or graduate study in psychology or related behavioral
science; demonstrated understanding of collection management in the
behavioral sciences; demonstrated leadership experience in a library
environment in the area of reference services and bibliographic instruction,
including the use and development of electronic information resources;
effective written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:  Masters degree in Psychology; demonstrated
proficiency in electronic information technology, including multimedia,
Internet resources, electronic journals and full text databases.

Type of Appointment/Salary:  This is a full-time, 12 month
academic/professional position, with a probationary appointment at the
Assistant Librarian rank.  It is expected that the appointee will fulfill
requirements for continuous appointment, including demonstrated professional
accomplishment and contribution. Salary/benefits:  Range of $33,000 to
$38,000, depending on experience and qualifications; annual full-time rate
with generous benefits package.
