Did your library school have weird hazing practices? Or is a ghost
reputed to haunt the reference collection? Do the students of your
university (or the staff of your organization) have unusual traditions
regarding the library building? Or have you heard that a "friend of a
friend" knows of a librarian who saw a troll-like creature lurking in
the library basement? Have you heard a rumor that a librarian once
appeared in Penthouse magazine?
I'm interested in gathering folklore/urban legends and "friend of a
friend" stories relating to libraries and librarians. Please send me
any that you've heard. Don't worry if you think they might have some
basis in fact-- they may still be useful for me. If you're not sure
what you have fits into these categories, please send it anyway! I
hope to research these stories and possibly publish an article on
them.
