Brigham Young University has several professional librarian positions
open, including a General Reference Librarian, an Assistant
University Librarian for Public Services and the following:

Position: Chemical Sciences Subject Specialist
Available: August 25, 1997
Description:  A faculty position in the Collection Development and
Public Services Division.  Responsible to develop collections for the
library in the subject areas of chemisty, chemical engineering,
molecular biology, and food science and nutrition.  Includes
responsibility to provide reference and advanced research assistance,
Computer Assisted Research Services online searching, bibliographic
instruction, and faculty liaison in the assigned subject areas of
expertise, and to participate in research, publication, and other
professional development activities.
Qualifications:  An MLS from an ALA-accredited library school is
required.  A second master's degree or a Ph.D. in a subject area of
responsibility is desired.  The ability to furnish advanced research
assistance in assigned subject areas is required as is the subject
expertise to assess the curricular and research needs of the
University and to build the collections to meet these needs.
Experience in searching the STN and DIALOG online information systems
is desired.  The ability to effectively communicate and work well
with faculty, students and the general public is required.

Salary and Benefits:  Faculty status, generous insurance and
