Re: CMDS/PARS Discussion Group at ALA MidWinter

The CMDS/PARS joint discussion group will meet at ALA Midwinter on Sunday
February 16 at 9-10:30 in the McPherson Square Room of the Crown Plaza.
Brian Baird and Rich Ring (University of Kansas) will lead the discussion
on cooperative preservation microfilming. Following on the success of
BRITTLE, a national cooperative effort for securing preservation quality
photocopy replacements for embrittled volumes at a reduced price, CMDS/PARS
will hold a discussion to look at ways research libraries can work
cooperatively on preservation microfilming and digitizing projects. The
goals should be to significantly reduce costs, save staff time and
eliminate redundancy of efforts among the participating libraries.
