The Mary Couts Burnett Library at Texas Christian University is
seeking a Reference/Business Librarian. Duties involve serving as
liaison to the M.J. Neeley School of Business, responsibility for the
development of the Business Collection, including electronic sources
such as CD-ROMs and the Internet, and preparation of seminars and
individual instruction with particular attention to the needs of the
business faculty and students. The Reference/Business Librarian
assists at the Reference Desk using both print and electronic
resources and shares evening, weekend and holiday assignments. The
person is responsible for providing both general and specialized
reference services, and actively participates in the bibliographic
instruction program by preparing printed and online tools to assist
students and faculty in using electronic and traditional resources.
The person serves on library and university committees as elected or
appointed.
Minimum education and experience include a MLS degree from an ALA
accredited program; experience and familiarity with library print and
electronic reference tools; and one to two years of previous
professional work experience in an academic library, preferably
utilizing business resources. The person is expected to have
excellent speaking and writing skills, effectiveness in interpersonal
communications, an analytical and logical mind set, and an ability to
organize and implement programs. Applications received by December 1,
