Journal of Critical Digital Librarianship (JCDL) is accepting proposals for two special issues to be published early 2027: The Graduate and Digital Librarianship in an Eroding Democracy
Special Issue: The Graduate invites current students, recent graduates, and early career librarians to reflect on the transition from the classroom to the profession and the many pathways that lead to and through digital librarianship. Editors of this issue are interested in critical approaches to topics such as LIS curriculum, the digital library job market, and professional expectations for early career digital librarians. This issue is scheduled to be published February 2027.
Special Issue: Digital Librarianship in an Eroding Democracy invites submissions that explore the intersections between digital library work and current democratic crises. Editors of this issue are interested in critical approaches to topics such as maintaining digital libraries that survive funding loss, preservation efforts representing political resistance, and strategic responses to governmental mandates. This issue is scheduled to be published April 2027.
Proposals for both issues due May 29th (see links to submission forms below).
