Greetings,

I would like to draw your attention to today's press release:

HARRASSOWITZ Partners with Purchase to Open Initiative to Advance Open
Access for Academic Books

Wiesbaden, Germany – March 26, 2026.

HARRASSOWITZ, leading supplier of scholarly content published throughout
Europe, is pleased to announce its partnership with the Purchase to Open
(P2O) initiative, continuing its support of open access content for
academic monographs.

Purchase to Open is a collaborative funding model that brings together
libraries, publishers, and booksellers to make high-quality scholarly
books openly accessible. By combining established acquisition workflows
with a community-based pledging scheme, P2O allows libraries to support
the open access publication of individual titles in a transparent and
efficient way.

Under the P2O model, publishers submit upcoming publications with a
defined funding target. Libraries can then pledge their support via their
preferred bookseller. If enough institutions participate and the funding
threshold is reached, the title is published open access. If the threshold
is not met, participating libraries still receive perpetual access to the
e-book through a standard campus license.

Seamless Integration into Library Workflows:

P2O titles are now included in Fokus, the HARRASSOWITZ system for
acquisition and management of scholarly resources. Users can make their
pledges directly at the selection / ordering level by using existing
workflows and templates. In addition, where titles match subject profiles,
HARRASSOWITZ will send New Title Announcements which link back to the
records in Fokus.

HARRASSOWITZ is pleased to continue its support of moving content to open
access and building tools to assist libraries with all open access models.
