They are in all states and even provide services for citizens abroad. For Colorado, see the Colorado Talking Book Library in Denver: http://www.myctbl.org/. For other locations, see: https://www.loc.gov/nls/find-your-library/#florida

Denver used to have (within one of their libraries) a Reading Center for the Blind and Dyslexic. I was a reader for them. I don't believe they are still running.

However, I wonder whether Colorado Reading Center might have resources to help.

With fingers crossed,
Barbara

Hi Sarah,

I recommend referring her to your state's talking book center or library for the blind; for Florida options, see https://www.loc.gov/nls/find-your-library/#florida. They provide braille as well as audiobooks and many provide other supportive resources as well. If they don't provide educational resources (as in for classes), they should be able to connect you with the agency that does that in your state.

For more information, including braille literacy resources, see Braille Education from the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled at the Library of Congress: https://www.loc.gov/nls/services-and-resources/braille-education/

All the best,
Freya

We have a patron whose daughter is losing her sight, and he is looking for braille books for her - mostly learning type books at this point such as learning the braille alphabet and numbers. Our youth services coordinator is having trouble finding books such as these and asked that I reach out to see if anyone has any go-to sources for these types of books. Thank you.
